LinkWorth - Search Engine Marketing

Since I became disgusted with Google Adsense (I might give Adsense another try soon) I've been looking around for other passive ways to monetize my blog.

I recently ran across LinkWorth and signed up with them. With LinkWorth a site owner can be paid for text links, link words (blah), blog posts, link in text (haven't figured that one out yet) and full page advertisements.

I really like the idea of being paid monthly for the links placed on my site instead of being paid, oh, let's say $5.00 for one blog posting that is expected to remain on my site forever. That might be a good deal for the advertiser, but it isn't such a good deal for me.

The one thing that creeps me out about any of these sites is that they ask you for your social security number up front. I think I must be the only one that feels this way since I've never heard anyone else mention it, but I just don't like the idea of typing my SS# into a web site without knowing a little more about them. So I didn't fill out the I-9 tax form and I suppose they won't be giving me any text links.

I figure that if I earn $600.00 from anyone on the net I can give them my SS# at that time, but until then I don't just input my SS# into any old form on the net just because someone asks me to.

I am putting their affiliate banner on my sidebar, so if anyone is interested and doesn't know about them please click my banner. :)

And if anyone has ever used them and can provide some feedback, please feel free to leave a comment to this post. I'm interested in hearing what you have to say.

LinkWorth

It's also worth it to check out text-link-ads.com. They have their system integrated pretty well with most CMS's. (I don't know about Drupal though)

Monetize blog

Why don't you sign up for Clickbank as an affiliate and write about a product or two related to blogging. These products pay 50% commissions or more usually and can be a good way to add extra income.

me too

I wasn't really expecting to put in my SS# before trying out the service. It kind of spooked me.

I'm sure it's fine since few others seem to be having problems with it. However, I have been glancing at alternatives.

Best,
Thad

I put my SS# in but I have

I put my SS# in but I have never heard a word from them... there must be something about that service that I just don't understand...

no big deal

Honestly, I wouldn't really worry about it. Linkworth is so big, they can't afford to risk losing information like that, or putting it in the wrong hands!

I finally did go in and add

I finally did go in and add my tax information... it still creeps me out though...

That's funny because

I always sign up under my previous married name also... I don't know where these people get off asking for my SS# right off the bat... Did you hear the latest about Bloggerwave? Some people think they are scammers... I need to write a post on it...

SSI

I would be freaked too about your SSI...I know I filled out a form like that for advertising on my blog too...I live in Canada and dont' have a SSI so I left it blank...I guess they haven't heard of ID theft. I always sign up under my old married last name. Now that it's been legally changed to my new married name they couldn't steal my ID....
